Additional JDS Linux software
With the time passing by and JDS (Sun Java Desktop System) release being over a year old now still on a daily bases more and more users are moving over to this outstanding linux distro, the looks & feel are superb and most important of all it is probably the most stable Linux distribution available on the market.I do understand some people wants to have the latest and greatest bit of software, implementing every new application that becomes available on their own linux distribution and some linux companies seems to have all those latest and greatest packages, but I always ask myself is it all working correctly, are they all integrated, what about testing? If they are launching a new version every 6 months how stable can it be, well the truth is "I don't know" but the fact is and that I do know is that all users running JDS Linux have a stable environment.
I know when Sun releases their new JDS version it will be as stable and it will have all necessary applications integrated for the comfort and easy use for everyone independently what background they may come from, linux, windows, Mac, etc and please do not forgetting the fantastic Look & Feel we gained with JDS Linux.

My point is; above having this fantastic stable environment, there are a number of people that would like to have this superb Linux distro but also some of those latest and greatest applications, and based on that Sun Microsystems will continue to provide their stability within JDS Linux and for those individuals that wants that little bit more I can say that gcclinux.com is trying to help out by creating rpm packages for the most popular applications and games. There are over 250 packages available for download making the lifes of all JDS users allot easier.
While Sun Microsystems concentrate in providing a robust linux distribution for the needs of everyone, gcclinux.com tries to help the JDS community by providing that little bit extra.
So if you are a JDS Linux user or you are thinking about becoming one, take a look around see what is available you can have the stability and have the latest applications. Just visit www.sun.com for the Operating System and www.sun.com for the latest applications available on the current available JDS Linux distribution.
Porting on request
We at gcclinux.com have started porting applications to JDS Linux on request, although we are still experimenting on the idea and doing or best to satisfy everyone's request. We have been very successful so far and we wish to continue this way, so if there is any JDS users in this forum check out the list of applications we already have and if there any other application you know it's available on another Linux distro and you wish to see it on JDS just post us a note or thread and we'll see what we can do.
